On a cold day, a small Korean boy waits for his mother at the streetcar sta tion. Several streetcars come and go without Mama appearing. Finally Mama arrives and the two set off for home, hand in hand, through the snow. This is a beautifully designed bilingual picture book. The text is simple, and the il lustrations are striking in composition and color choice. Endnotes about the Hangeul writing and information about the illustrator’s depiction of Korea in 1938 are valuable additions. ca
