Pronouncing Authors' Names

How do you say them correctly? Well, since January 2007, we at TeachingBooks have been recording authors identifying themselves, while often telling a story or rhyme behind the name.

To date, these brief recordings have been played almost 800,000 times. The most played name pronunciations are...

with Texan authors Rick Riordan and Louis Sachar right behind.

A number of years ago, a marvelous high school intern named Joseph developed this Name Game. Perhaps you and your students will enjoy listening to these tricky-to-say names, the culturally relevant names, and the funny stories behind names.

It is always our pleasure to personalize connections to the books that matter to you. If there is an author's name missing on our list of children's and YA book creators, please email me and we'll do our best to add it.
