Emily Townsend

MLS—Director of Online Content & Collections

Emily Townsend's experience with literacy and children and young adult literature, her service-oriented approach, and her interest in technology brought her to TeachingBooks.net. As Director of Online Content & Collections, she is responsible for directing the identification, classification, production, and inclusion of new resources for the database.

She previously worked as a librarian at the Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC) where she coauthored CCBC Choices and administered Read On Wisconsin. Emily currently serves on the 2018 American Library Association (ALA) / Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) Morris Award Committee and served on the ALA/YALSA 2017 Best Fiction for Young Adults Committee.

She credits her undergraduate studies in Comparative Religions and her graduate work in Cultural and Media Studies for many of her core values and beliefs, including the power of narrative as well as the need for inclusivity.
