for 10 Minutes till Bedtime
by Peggy Rathmann
Strange things start to happen as soon as a father makes the bedtime announcement. His young son, whose been building a vehicle out of cardboard, paper clips and the wheel from his hamster's cage, suddenly notices the front door opening and 10 hamster tourists lining up for a tour of the boy's bedroom. As his father counts down and calls out the minutes, the hamsters take a whirlwind tour, engaging in typical tourist behavior: snapping photos, fishing, swimming, and relaxing under umbrellas. Children will delight in the ways in which ordinary things are viewed as novelties by rodent interlopers, and many of them will identify with the boy's procrastination as bedtime draws nearer. There's much to look at and laugh at in each uproariously funny double-page spread. Those who wish to continue the journey can call up www.hamstertours.com, a real-life web page, seen on a fictional computer screen in the book. (Ages 4-8)

Bedtime routines have never been so hilarious! Say good night with this fun read-aloud from the creator of Good Night, Gorilla.
The countdown to bedtime is about to begin when a family of hamsters arrives at the front door. "All aboard," shouts the child's pet hamster, and it's off to the kitchen for a snack, to the bathroom for toothbrushing, to the bedroom for a story. And just as the child starts to read, more hamsters stream through the front door and the escapades accelerate as the countdown continues. Now in a sturdy board book format, this favorite bedtime book will stand up to many story times, naptimes, and bedtimes.
