Carmen Mok: Hello. My name is Carmen Mok. When I was born, my parents gave me a Chinese name that my first name is Ka, K-A. It means wisdom. So I was called Kaka in my family since I was little. Until I was in grade four, my English teacher asked everyone in the class to have an English name so my parents and I came up a few names to choose and we picked Carmen. It is partly because the pronunciation is similar as Ka. Carmen means song, it sounds joyful and full of energy, and I like it. I think it is pretty cool to have a chance for me to pick up my own name. Mok is not a very common Chinese last name but I'm very proud of having it.
