Our hope is that by offering you one central place to easily access quality instructional materials about the books you are reading -- it can save you time as you strive to bring to life the texts that you are using.

One way we do this is almost everyday, we create original interviews with the very best authors and illustrators.

For example, we interviewed the author of I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings -- and include her in our collection of authors telling the stories of their names. Would you say her name as Maya Angelo or Maya Angelooo? Let’s learn directly from the author herself.

The easiest way to start is to go to the home page, and begin by typing the title of a relevant book into the search box. On each book’s main page, you will see the cover, the title, the author’s name, and a table of contents identifying the professionally curated digital resources that are available for you, including: lesson plans, book guides, video book trailers, meet-the-author video and audio recordings, reading levels, vocabulary lists, and more.

Another powerful way to use TeachingBooks is to use our comprehensive digital library to identify books that meet your needs. You can start by selecting Resources for My Books from the home page. From the top of the screen you can search by author or illustrator, subject area, favorite series, award, or thematic book list. You also can browse….

For example, you are looking for nonfiction, and then use the “Narrow Your Results” tools on the left side to hone in on what you need…elementary school, biographies, that are about the African American experience. That are so good that they won a major award and that have lesson plans.

Use the green plus sign to make your own custom book lists, and/or to add titles to existing lists. And then, with every list and every resource, you can share these materials, directly, with colleagues, families or students -- anyone using these books.

One powerful component of TeachingBooks is that you can align this collection of resources to the books you are using in a class syllabus, a reading program, and even an individual student’s reading list.
